Dr Uddipan Mukherjee, IOFS qualified the UPSC Civil Services examination in 2007 with an AIR 210. He was previously posted as Joint Director and PRO at the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board and thereafter in Directorate of Ordnance (Coordination & Services) in Kolkata. Presently, he is in deemed deputation to the historic Gun and Shell Factory (GSF), Cossipore as Joint General Manager (Director rank) in-charge of administration and public relations. GSF – a unit under AWEIL Kanpur has supplied three AK 630 M guns installed at INS Vikrant (IAC).
Dr Mukherjee specializes on Maoist Insurgency/ Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in India and in that capacity has contributed chapters in edited volumes and has also been a television commentator.
In February, 2021, he was invited by the Overseas Security Advisory Council of the US Department of States and the American Chamber of Commerce in Manila to speak on LWE in India and Philippines.
In 2020, the New Delhi-based think-tank Vivekananda International Foundation inducted him in the nine-member Task Force on LWE, headed by Shri Shekhar Dutt, former governor of the Maoist affected central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
